Mo’orea, French Polynesia
This beautiful, heart-shaped island – located 11 miles northwest of Tahiti – features blue lagoons and stunning, rainforest-blanketed mountains. It offers luxurious properties with coconut-strewn beaches, and you can smell Tahitian gardenia, grapefruit and vanilla everywhere you go. It is believed that the beaches along Cook and Opunohu Bays were formed by the tail of a giant yellow lizard – Mo’orea means “yellow lizard” in Tahitian – and James Michener found inspiration for his novel, ‘Tales of the South Pacific’, on this island.
