Brace yourselves, Brangelina fans.
Angelina Jolie has filed for divorce from husband Brad Pitt after just two years of marriage, citing “irreconcilable differences”. The Academy Award winner has started the process with legal documents, according to her lawyer, Robert Offer.
He says: “Angelina has filed for dissolution of the marriage. This decision was made for the health of the family. She will not be commenting, and asks that the family be given its privacy at this time.” Jolie is asking for physical custody of the couple’s six children – Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Vivienne, and Knox – and is not requesting spousal support.
On the other hand, the actress is asking for Pitt to be allowed visitation rights. It has been reported that the ‘Maleficent’ star and her husband had “a conflict over the kids”, and that she wasn’t happy with his parenting choices.
The Hollywood power couple was last spotted together in mid July, just before their second wedding anniversary. They have been together since 2004, but only married in August 2014. The date of separation has reportedly been listed as September 15, 2016.
Pitt will next be seen in ‘Allied’, opposite French star Marion Cotillard, while Jolie is working on a documentary ‘First They Killed My Father: A Daughter of Cambodia Remembers’.
