Earlier this year, Caitlyn Jenner – formerly known as Bruce Jenner – made history by coming out as transgender on the cover of Vanity Fair magazine. The former Olympian bravely shared her story and became one of the most prominent transgender role models in the world.
Even though Halloween is more than two months away, a costume company has decided to turn Jenner’s highly publicized cover into an awful Halloween costume, which appears to be marketed at men who want to dress up as a transgender woman for the night. The controversial costume is available at anytimecostumes.com, as well as wholesalehalloweencostumes.com.
“You probably won’t break any Twitter records when you wear this outfit like Caitlyn did, but you’ll be sure to get a few laughs out of your friends and the other guests at the get together.”, reads the costume’s description on Anytime Costumes’ site. Spirit Halloween – the company that manufactured the Call Me Caitlyn costume – said that the costume is supposed to celebrate the ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians’ star.
An alternate version of the costume – called the Call Me Caitlyn Mr. Olympian Costume Kit – was available at BuyCostumes.com, but it has been discontinued following social media outrage. As expected, Twitter users have been less-than-impressed with the Halloween costume:
