Civil Rights Leader Rachel Dolezal Lied About Being Black For Years, Her Parents Claim

Rachel Dolezal – a prominent NAACP leader in Eastern Washington state – has been lying about being black for years.

Her parents were the ones who outed her, and they even used childhood photos as proof, while speaking to local media.

The 37-year-old’s parents said that their daughter started passing herself off as black after the family adopted four African-American children.

Larry Dolezal said that both he and his wife are white, and of European descent. The NAACP leader is the couple’s biological child.

Dolezal’s mother, Ruthanne – who hasn’t been in touch with her daughter for years – said that she would have been more effective in the causes of the African-American community if she had been honest with everybody.

Dolezal was confronted with the allegations on Thursday, but she refused to answer any direct questions regarding her race.

When a reporter asked her if she is African-American, she said that she doesn’t understand the question.

On the other hand, the NAACP leader’s parents are offering even more evidence: their daughter’s birth certificate, which lists both of them as white.

In the meantime, the Spokane City Hall has opened an inquiry regarding Dolezal’s application to the Office of Police Ombudsman Commission. The application in question lists a few ethnicities, including black.

Dolezal said that they can DNA test her if they want to, but that the entire situation is “ridiculous”.
