Who knew bears were so sneaky?
People visiting Los Angeles zoo last week were left confused after a local comedian decided to have a little fun with the information cards. On June 29, Jeff Wysaski left hilarious – and fake – animal facts all over the zoo, and thanks to him we now know that gibbons love soup!
The comedian – who goes by the stage name “Obvious Plant” – printed nine posters featuring ‘facts’ about flamingos, bears, owls and meerkats. According to Wysaski, meerkats can control electronics, while the Southern Crested Screamer can see ghosts.
Even though Wysaski’s fake animal facts were well-received on social media, some people expressed their disdain of the prank on his June 30 Facebook post. Daniel Twedt wrote: “There are plenty of vandals sitting in prison over much minor offenses, and this scrub posts about it and nothing happens because he is a ‘comedian’.”
Last year, the LA-based prankster hung ten realistic signs for fake Halloween costumes, in addition to leaving fake reviews for Ikea products at one of the stores. Wysaski explains: “I enjoy the idea of people happening upon a little bit of weirdness in the real world, helping to make someone’s day a little more interesting is all the motivation I need.”
