Girl Scouts Celebrate National S’mores Day By Introducing Two New Flavors

This one is for you, cookie monsters.

The Girl Scouts are celebrating National S’mores Day in style: by adding two new s’mores-inspired cookies to the mix. According to a press release, both versions of the campfire favorite will be ready for the 2017 cookie season.

Well, it’s safe to say we can’t wait! The new variety will be joining the ranks of Thin Mints, Samoas and Tagalongs, and it will include two versions. First up is “a crispy graham cookie double dipped in a crème icing and enrobed in a chocolatey coating”, plus it’s vegan!

And the second one is a sandwich-style cookie made of two crunchy graham cookies with a chocolate and marshmallowly filling. Sylvia Acevedo, interim CEO of the Girl Scouts of the USA, explains that the new flavors are a nod to “the adventurous spirit, love of the outdoors, and feeling of community synonymous with Girl Scouts.”

The highly-anticipated s’mores cookies will be made at Little Brownie Bakers in Louisville, Kentucky, and they contain no artificial flavors, colors or partially hydrogenated oils. Additionally, they are the first new Girl Scout cookie variety since 2015, and will be added to the official cookie lineup.

The 2017 Girl Scout Cookie Season is a special one, because it marks 100 years of Girl Scouts selling cookies. The S’mores™ variety will be sold by the Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana, at $5 per box.
