Hollywood actress Amandla Stenberg is definitely not keeping up with the Kardashians (or Jenners).
The 16-year-old star of ‘Hunger Games’ has criticised the 17-year-old reality star for “appropriating black culture”, after Jenner shared a photo of herself with her hair in cornrows on Instagram.
Jenner – who is currently promoting her new wig line – posted a photo of herself on social media wearing a tight crop top and sweatpants, and her hair plaited into cornrows. She captioned the controversial photo with the comment “I woke up like disss”.
Stenberg – who played Rue in the popular movie – posted a comment underneath Jenner’s photo: “When u appropriate black features and culture but fail to use ur position of power to help black Americans by directing attention towards ur wigs instead of police brutality or racism #whitegirlsdoitbetter”.
The ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians’ star saw Stenberg’s comment and replied with: “Mad if I don’t, Mad if I do… Go hang w Jaden or something”, most likely referencing Jaden Smith, the son of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith, who the 16-year-old actress went to prom with back in May.
Since then, Stenberg has written a post about black femininity in today’s society, in which she explains that “Black features are beautiful. Black women are not. White women are paragons of virtue and desire. Black women are objects of fetishism and brutality.”
Representatives for both the actress and the reality star have yet to comment on their online feud.
