The wait is over.
Instagram is finally giving its users what they want – a closer look at photos and videos. On August 31, the app released an update that introduces one of its most requested features: pinch to zoom.
In a post, Instagram celebrated the fact that users can now “dive into an adorable puppy’s smile or into every detail of your friend’s new shirt.” The company’s new feature enables Instagrammers to zoom in on still and moving images shared on the platform.
Zoom is currently available only on iOS, and will be available on Android “in the coming weeks.” And even though users are happy to get a better look at other people’s lives, the ones who are probably the most excited about the update are our parents.
In a statement, the photo and video sharing app says: “Over the past six months, you’ve seen many exciting changes come to Instagram, from a new icon to longer videos and even a new way to share everyday moments with Instagram Stories. And as things change, we’re still focused on improving the core parts of Instagram.”
