Best train ride ever.
A Melbourne man has proposed to his long-term girlfriend during the busy morning commute, 10 years after they first met on a train. Last Friday, love was in the air in carriage four of the city’s Frankston line when Ryan Jacka popped the question to Hannah Dittrich.
In order to pull off the meticulously planned proposal, the 35-year-old had a little assistance from the train driver. Halfway through the couple’s morning commute, there was an announcement over the speaker: “We have two of our regular commuters with us today, Hannah and Ryan. They met on the train about 10 years ago, they have been madly in love ever since and today Ryan has a special question he’d like to ask Hannah.”
Then, Ryan got down on one knee, and even though Hannah appeared to be shocked at first, it didn’t take long for her to say “yes”. The happy couple’s fellow commuters cheered and clapped, and the very special moment was captured on video.
Ryan explains: “I thought ‘What a fitting place to pop the question’. She had no idea it was coming. We were just on our way to work. The train was pretty packed. I think they were stunned. It’s not the usual thing you see on your way to work on a Friday morning.”
Meanwhile, his bride-to-be jokes: “I did tell metro we might use the train for the wedding venue. But I think we’ll stick to something a little more conventional.”
Congrats, Ryan and Hannah!
